Safe Little Faces is intentionally narrow. It helps you cover selected faces and private details, then exports a clean copy. Here is what that means in practice.
Photo processing stays on your iPhone
The app uses Apple frameworks for face detection and image editing. It has no developer-operated photo server, upload queue, account system, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK. Your selected photos are not transmitted to us.
You decide who to protect
Face detection creates neutral rectangles around likely faces. Safe Little Faces does not infer age, identity, family relationship, or whether a person is a child. It does not recognize people or remember faces across photos. You tap each face you want to cover.
Exports are newly encoded files
The app flattens your edits into a new JPEG or PNG. It does not copy the source photo's GPS location, capture date, camera make and model, lens details, device identifiers, or similar source metadata. A valid image still needs ordinary technical fields such as pixel dimensions, color space, and format.
Your originals remain untouched
Safe Little Faces creates a new protected copy. It does not write the cover back into the original photo. This makes it easier to keep the family original while sharing a separate version.
Face detection is helpful, not perfect
Profiles, low light, occlusion, unusual angles, reflections, and very small faces can be missed. That is why the app includes Hide and Restore brushes and asks you to review the whole image before export.
School uniforms, name tags, house numbers, signs, documents, reflections, distinctive locations, and visible schedules can still reveal information. Review the complete frame before sharing.
What the app cannot promise
No exported image can prevent screenshots, re-sharing, or identification from visible context. Blur and mosaic can also leave more recognizable structure than an opaque cover. Safe Little Faces gives you practical tools and a clear review step; it does not claim to make a photo anonymous or “AI-proof.”
The website and the app are different
The iPhone app contains no analytics. This public website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visits and which pages are useful. The website never receives the family photos you edit in the app. See the privacy policy for details.
